Personal Statement Draft Review

We offer an option to have our transfer counselor review your personal statement and get feedback before you submit your application. All you need is a hard copy of your personal statement with your Full Name and Student I.D. #. Come drop it off at the front desk of the Transfer Center beginning  Wednesday, October 17 – Wednesday, November 28, 2012. 
 

Transfer Counselors
It is recommended that you meet with your Academic Counselor to develop your Student Educational Plan and follow-up with your counselor each semester to stay on track and informed of any curriculum changes.  Transfer Center Counselors are also available to offer guidance in transferring to a four-year university or college.  Transfer counselors can assist you with selecting a transfer institution, UC Transfer Admission Guarantees, transferring to an Independent/Private or Out-of-State school, general transfer-related questions and special transfer circumstances. 

Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  To schedule an appointment with a Transfer Counselor, please visit the front counter or call the Transfer Center.

Walk-in appointments are available on Mondays from 8:30am-4:30pm.  There is no appointment necessary.  Sign up for walk-in counseling at the front counter between the scheduled hours, the last appointment is taken at 30 minutes prior to end time.  Please note: Walk-in appointments are not available on holidays and are subject to change due to staff schedules.  To verify if a Transfer Counselor is available, please call first.

Individual Representative Appointments:
On an ongoing basis in both Fall and Spring semesters, we offer individual appointments with the various local college representatives. To make an appointment, please come by the Transfer Center, located on the second floor of the Student Center Building (714) 484-7129. Please Note:  Students may only sign-up a maximum of 30 days in advance.  Please check back monthly for updated listings.

Workshops:
The Transfer Center offers workshops to assist students in completing the transfer process.  If space permits, walk-ins are welcome.  To guarantee a seat, call or visit the Transfer Center to sign up TODAY! SEATING IS LIMITED!
 
Classes:

COUN 160 C, College/University Transition
1 unit course recommended to all students planning to transfer

COUN 160HC, Honors University Transition
 1 unit course required for all students admitted to the Honors Program
Please note students should take only one (1) of the above courses; duplicate credit is not granted if both classes are taken.

ENGL 108C, Writing the Personal Statement
.5 unit course taught during the month of October

Apply to the Honors Program
Join other highly motivated students in Honors Classes. Students who complete the Honors Program and meet all major transfer requirements will have priority consideration for admission to specific four-year institutions.


University Tours:
Various tours are offered each semester to local university campuses. To sign-up, please come by the Transfer Center, located on the second floor of the Student Center Building (714) 484-7129.

Transfer Fairs:

Transfer Fairs are offered periodically in order to provide students with the opportunity to meet with local university representatives in a fair-like atmosphere. Representatives can answer general questions about the universities and the programs that they offer as well as provide students with brochures and information. No appointments are necessary. For answers to specific questions, students should make an appointment with a university representative (refer to Individual Representative schedule).

Table Visits:

Table visits are offered periodically in order to provide students with the opportunity to meet with local university representatives.  Representatives can answer general questions about the universities and the programs that they offer as well as provide students with brochures and information. No appointments are necessary.
