Santa Ana, Calif. – It was business as usual for Cypress as the Chargers scored four goals and allowed none for their third conference win. The Charger defense was key allowing no shots from the Dons in the shutout. Sophomore forward Yvonne Vasquez scored her sixth and seventh goal of the season and chipped in an assist to lead Cypress.

Cypress started scoring early again when in the fifth minute, sophomore points leader Brittney Elder scored from Vasquez’s pass. Cypress shot seven more times in the first half but could not convert any more goals ending the half 1-0. The Chargers picked up the pace in the second half as Vasquez scored two consecutive goals just three minutes apart. Next, freshman midfielder Kelsey Chavarria chipped one in for the fourth and final goal. Elder, Lauren Hess, and Denise Oates contributed assists on the last three goals. Freshman goalie Kassandra Imbrogno picked up her sixth shutout this season.

Cypress will have a few days rest before their next conference match-up hosting Orange Coast. Orange Coast will prove to be a much more challenging team than the Chargers’ recent opponents. OCC is tied with Cypress in first place with a 5-2 overall record. The Pirates are coming off of a 10-2 blowout of Fullerton. When Cypress met Fullerton earlier this season, the Chargers won 6-1. The teams will face off Friday at 3:00 pm at Cypress to determine which team holds on to first.
