Riverside, Calif. – Perhaps it was victory enough making it all the way to Riverside safely after last Friday’s accident caused a postponement of the game and injuries to several players. The beat up Charger squad made it to Riverside finally but could only score one goal and allowed another to finish the game in a tie, the first time Cypress has not won this season. Freshman defender Kristen Mosier contributed the sole assist on the day for Cypress.
Wednesday’s game was a makeup for Cypress making it the second of three games in the Chargers’ tough week. Sophomore goal leader Brittney Elder scored her ninth goal of the season giving Cypress their only goal on the day. The tie is the first for Cypress who falls to 12-0-1 on the season and 6-0-1 in conference. This also bumps the Chargers down to second in the conference behind Santiago Canyon.
The Chargers have just one day off to prepare for their biggest challenge yet against Santiago Canyon. The Hawks are 12-0 and are ranked number two in the nation. The teams face off Friday at Santiago Canyon at 3:00 pm.
