Chargers Back on Track with Win over Chaffey

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress paced themselves to a 3-0 victory over Chaffey which was a welcome change coming off of two ties in a row smudging their previously perfect record. Cypress utilized their Orange Empire Conference bye day to take on the Chaffey Panthers scoring two goals in the first and one in the second half. Sophomore defender Denise Oates picked up two assists on the day to push Cypress to the victory.
The action picked up about fifteen minutes into the game when Tiffany Craig dribbled through solo to net the Chargers’ first goal. The next goal came just six minutes later when Oates delivered a pass to sophomore midfielder Brittney Elder who put one in the left corner on the ground for her tenth goal of the season. Cypress had the 2-0 lead at half and added one more in the second half when freshman defender Kristen Mosier extended her three game point streak with a goal from an Oates corner kick. Freshman keeper Kassandra Imbrogno picked up her tenth shutout this year.
The Chargers return to the second half of Orange Empire Conference action Friday hosting Fullerton. The Hornets are 3-7-1 and 2-5-1 in conference in seventh place in conference. The last time these teams met, Cypress won 6-1. The teams face off again Friday at 3:00 pm at home.
