Chargers Continue Streak to the Finish with 5-0 Shutout

Mission Viejo, Calif. – The Chargers are on a tear since their 1-2 loss to Santa Ana blowing out Saddleback 5-0 after their 6-0 blowout of Orange Coast earlier in the week. Cypress would take no chances at another upset loss netting five goals while shutting out the Gauchos. Sophomore captain Yvonne Vasquez proved to be fully recovered contributing a goal and an assist in the effort.
There were many contributors to the Charger effort Friday with five goals and five different scorers. Besides Vasquez, freshman midfielder Kelsey Chavarria, sophomore midfielder Tiffany Craig, freshman midfielder Diana Gallegos, and freshman midfielder Brittney LoBello contributed a goal each. Craig, Vasquez, Nydia Hurtado, and Denise Oates all added assists. Freshman keeper Kassandra Imbrogno picked up her conference leading ninth shutout thus far.
The Chargers improve to 10-1-2 in conference and look forward to a revenge win against Riverside next. The third place Tigers surprised the Chargers with a 1-1 tie the last time they met. This time Cypress would like to finish with an unequivocal win. The two face off Tuesday at Cypress at 3:00 pm.
