Cypress, Calif. – Cypress has lost just once this year to Orange Empire opponent Santa Ana. It was only appropriate that the first seed Chargers would face up with the Dons in the first round of playoffs. The Chargers took advantage of their revenge motivation to score three goals in the first half finishing the Dons’ season 3-0. Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Craig scored two goals for the second game in a row to lead Cypress.
The first goal came early from sophomore midfielder Brittney Elder with an assist from sophomore forward Yvonne Vasquez. From there Craig took over with her first goal with an assist from Dani Castro. Craig scored her third goal as the half went on with a second assist from Vasquez. The Chargers held on to the three goal lead in the second half with four saves total from freshman goalie Kassandra Imbrogno.
Cypress moves on to the second round of playoffs after this win to face Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara is 14-4-3 overall coming off of a narrow 2-1 win over Cuyamaca and is seeded eighth. The two will face off in another do-or-die game Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Cypress.
