Cypress Finishes 2006 as State Runner-Up

Fresno, Calif. – Cypress faced off with conference Rivals Santiago Canyon on a cold and drizzly Fresno Pacific field Sunday for the State Championship title. Cypress could not come out on top this last match losing the title to Santiago Canyon 0-2 finishing their 2006 season second in the state. This is the second year in a row Cypress has finished in the state finals.
Cypress had their best opportunity to score in the first half tied at zero with a penalty kick opportunity towards the end of the half. The goal was stopped by the Hawks’ goalie keeping the score tied at 0 at half. Santiago found an opportunity to score in the 63rd minute to take the lead. The Hawks added to their lead with a goal at the 84th minute. Cypress pressed hard for a goal but could only get three shots off in the second half and finished scoreless. Freshman keeper Kassandra Imbrogno was put to work collecting seven saves.
Cypress finishes their season 24-2-2 as state finalists for the second season in a row.
