Chargers Produce Seven Goals in First Blowout Win of the Season

Oxnard, Calif. – It was back to business as usual after a tough tie the day before as Cypress went back to their winning ways. The Chargers produced a blowout seven goal shutout win over Rio Hondo for their first win of the season. Sophomore midfielder Dani Castro produced two goals to add to her assist from the day before to lead the Chargers.

Sophomore midfielder Karina Gutierrez notched her third career goal with one against the Roadrunners as well. Charger freshmen showed their mettle with a few goals of their own. Freshmen April Morris, Jackiee Roman, Samantha Jones, and Catrina Flores all scored a goal each. Flores also added an assist. Freshman forward Natalie Farah added to her goal from Saturday with two assists on the day.

Cypress has a couple days off before hosting their first home game of the season against Cuyamaca. Cuyamaca is 1-0 on the season so far coming off of a 3-0 win over L.A. Pierce. The two will face off Tuesday at Cypress at 4:00 pm.
