Castro’s Hat Trick Leads Cypress to Conference Opening Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. – The Chargers opened conference play Tuesday on the road at Golden West. Cypress made a statement with a 6-0 shutout win over the Rustlers. Sophomore midfielder Dani Castro fueled the win with three goals on the day.
Castro’s goals were backed by a supporting cast of freshmen. Freshman forward Catrina Flores produced two assists on the day while freshmen Allyson Zimmerman, Megan Boland, and Samantha Jones scored a goal each. Freshmen Jackiee Roman and Yadira Rangel also added an assist each. Sophomore goalie Kassandra Imbrogno earned the shutout with two saves.
Cypress has a couple days off before hosting their first conference Match on Friday hosting Saddleback. The Gauchos are 3-2 coming off of a 2-0 win over Orange Coast. The Chargers and Gauchos will face off Friday at 3:00 pm at Cypress.
