Cypress, Calif. – Cypress hosted Saddleback Friday in just their second home game this season in their second conference game of the year. The Chargers were frustrated because of a dozen missed opportunities but were able to convert on one which was just enough to outscore Saddleback 1-0. Freshman midfielder Samantha Jones had the honor in the second half preventing Cypress’s third tie of the year.

The Chargers appeared to control the game maintaining possession on offense the majority of the time. Cypress was able to pull off a twelve shots on goal putting the opposing goalie to work while the Gauchos had just one. None of the Charger shots were able to reach the net in the first half despite some very close calls. Cypress was finally able to put one in 15 minutes into the second half. After a foul outside the box, Jones kicked one directly into the goal for the deciding score. Sophomore keeper Kassandra Imbrogno played the entire game making one save and earning the shutout.

Cypress has a few days off before heading back on the road to continue conference action at Santa Ana. The teams will meet up at Santa Ana Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
