Cypress, Calif. – Three goals in a single game is usually a once in a lifetime achievement but sophomore midfielder Dani Castro made it a twice in a month achievement Tuesday afternoon as she drove in three goals to lead Cypress to victory. The Chargers scored four times in the first half and allowed one to bounce back from their first loss of the year Friday defeating San Bernardino Valley 4-1. Castro’s goals were bolstered by three assists on the day from freshman forward Catrina Flores.

Cypress came out shooting as Castro scored in just the first minute with a pass from Flores. The Chargers’ early fortunes seemed to be troubled as the Wolverines took advantage of a break getting behind the Charger defense and evening the score at one in the 24th minute. Cypress would not tolerate the tie for long as freshman defender Tracy Pabigian took advantage of a break to serve a ball to Castro for her second goal and the Cypress lead. Castro would finish off her hat trick in the 38th minute as her and Flores won a two-on-two battle to take it in for a score. Cypress piled on another just three minutes later when Flores threw a ball in to freshman forward Natalie Farah who quickly scored for Cypress’s fourth and final goal. The second half was much calmer as neither team could score ending the game with the same score as the end of the first half. Sophomore keeper Kassandra Imbrogno made two saves on the day giving her 101 career saves, fifth in the Charger career record book.

Cypress improves to 6-1-3 on the season. The Chargers return to conference action Friday as they head on the road to face Irvine Valley. IVC is 1-7 on the season coming off of their first win against Orange Coast, 2-1. The two meet up Friday at 3:00 pm at Irvine Valley.
