Cypress, Calif. – Cypress closed out the first half of Orange Empire Conference play Tuesday hosting Fullerton. After two early goals Cypress kept the pace going beating the Hornets 6-1 ending the first half of conference in second place. Freshman forward Natalie Farah finished with two of Cypress’s six goals to lead the Chargers.

The Chargers started the game off with a one-two punch. Farah started the action off with a goal after just one minute of play with an assist from sophomore midfielder Dani Castro. Less than a minute later, sophomore midfielder Karina Gutierrez put in another one with a toe poke pass from sophomore defender Amanda Martinez. Cypress waited a while for their third goal when freshman midfielder Jessica McMaster scored with another assist from Castro. The Chargers topped off the half with a corner kick from freshman defender Samantha Jones that freshman defender Karla Garcia headed in for the 4-0 halftime lead. The second half began much like the first as freshman forward Catrina Flores came into the game and immediately scored with an assist from McMaster. The Hornets answered with their first and only goal of the game shortly thereafter. Farah put the nail in the coffin with her second goal which she headed in from another Jones corner kick.
