Chargers Slip One Through for the Narrow Win

Mission Viejo, Calif. – Cypress traveled to Saddleback Tuesday to face the Gauchos for the second time this season. The last time they met, Cypress won 1-0, and the Chargers made it a carbon copy result with another one goal win. Freshman defender Samantha Jones scored the sole Charger goal for the win.
After a scoreless first half, Cypress finally got their shot in the 52nd minute. Cypress was awarded a direct free kick outside the box. Cypress utilized their free kick specialist Jones who scored for the 1-0 lead. Cypress continued attacking and finished with 25 shots on goal but only converting on the free kick. Sophomore goalie Kassandra Imbrogno finished with the shutout win and five saves.
Cypress improves to 12-1-3 and 8-1-1 in conference. They take two days off before coming home to face Santa Ana. The first time they met this season, Santa Ana dealt Cypress their only tie in conference. Cypress hopes to earn the decisive win the next time around as they face off again Friday at 3:00 pm at Cypress.
