Walnut, Calif. – Cypress remained on the road Wednesday and headed to Mt. Sac to take on the Mounties. After falling behind a goal in the second half, the Chargers battled back including a last minute goal to win 2-1. Freshman midfielder Amanda LoBello played hero scoring the game winning goal.
After struggling through a scoreless first half, the Mounties were the first to break through scoring early in the second half putting Cypress behind 1-0. The Chargers were able to answer in the 65th minute with a goal from sophomore defender Samantha Jones assisted by freshman midfielder Casey Kiehl’s corner kick. Unsatisfied with the tie score, Kiehl assisted again with LoBello’s game winning goal in the 89th minute. Freshman keeper Whitney Joslin collected four saves on the game.
The Chargers improve to 2-0 and remain on the road for a Friday matchup against Solano. Solano is 1-0 coming off of a two goal win over West Hills. The two will face off at Solano at 5:00 pm on Friday.
