Cypress Fails to Win in First Draw of the Season

The Chargers fail to win for the first time this year.

San Bernardino, Calif. – Cypress started their season with four straight wins before they ran into the Wolverines of San Bernardino Valley Tuesday. The Chargers ended their win streak finishing the game in a draw 2-2. Sophomore forward Catrina Flores scored Cypress’s second goal which put them ahead 2-1 before San Bernardino rallied back to tie it up.

The Wolverines attacked first with a goal just 19 minutes into the game. Cypress waited till the 30th minute before tying it up at one all. Freshman midfielder Nicole Weil scored with an assist from freshman defender Katelyn Rinehart. Cypress then took the lead at the start of the second half with Flores’s goal assisted by sophomore midfielder Jackiee Roman. San Bernardino rained on the party right away with a goal just two minutes later tying the game at two. The two battled it out the rest of the second half but were unable to break the tie. Freshman goalie Whitney Joslin made ten saves on the day.

Cypress falls to 4-0-1 and has a few days off before heading to Santa Barbara. The two meet up at Santa Barbara Friday at 2:00 pm.
