Cypress Edges Coast in Home Opener

Cypress, Calif. – The 2008 Chargers made their home debut Tuesday afternoon hosting Orange Coast in the Orange Empire Conference opener. Cypress put a goal in early and held on for the narrow 1-0 win. Freshman midfielder Casey Kiehl made Cypress’s only goal.
Cypress waited till the 22nd minute before freshman midfielder Amanda LoBello passed up the middle to Kiehl who dribbled and shot for the goal. The Chargers had plenty more opportunity in the second half but were unable to convert as Orange Coast stayed within a goal. Freshman keeper Whitney Joslin kept the Pirate balls from scoring making ten saves.
Cypress improves to 5-0-2 and 1-0 in conference. The Chargers head back on the road for a three game stint starting with Santa Ana Friday. Santa Ana is 2-4 coming off of a 1-0 loss to Golden West. The two meet up at Santa Ana Friday at 3:00 pm.
