Cypress, Calif. – Cypress hosted first place Riverside Friday as they found themselves in the rare spot of third place in conference. The Chargers needed a win to climb up but came up short in every goal attempt as they ended the game in a 0-0 tie with the Tigers. Cypress had a goal in the first half taken away after the referee ruled that the corner kick went out of bounds before curving in.
The Chargers got more aggressive in the second half going at the Riverside goal but came up empty in every attempt. Freshman goalie Whitney Joslin maintained the shutout with two saves.
Cypress falls to 7-1-3 and 3-1-1 in conference in third place. The Chargers have the weekend off before hosting Golden West Tuesday. Golden West is 2-1-1 in conference. The two meet up Tuesday at Cypress at 2:00 pm.
