Rivalry Face Off Ends in a Draw

Cypress, Calif. – The Chargers and the Hawks faced off in the first rivalry matchup of the season Tuesday afternoon. Cypress and Santiago Canyon battled through ninety minutes and both came up empty-handed in a 0-0 tie. Freshman keeper Whitney Joslin maintained the shutout with three saves for her sixth shutout of the year.
Cypress had control for most of the first half just missing on several opportunities. Santiago Canyon got more aggressive in the second taking some close shots as well. The Charger backfield made up of freshmen Nicole Weil, Katelyn Rinehart, and sophomore Samantha Bock held down the fort keeping the Hawks scoreless.
The Chargers fall to 9-1-4 and 5-1-2 in conference slipping into third. Cypress will start conference over on Friday heading to Orange Coast in a rematch against the Pirates. Cypress barely slipped by last time with a 1-0 win. The two face off again Friday at 3:00 pm at Orange Coast.
