Ugly Game Still Finishes with Cypress on Top

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress hosted Irvine Valley Tuesday afternoon in their second matchup of the year. After ninety minutes of action and eight yellow cards, Cypress emerged on top 3-0. Freshman forward Ariana Olague kicked off the scoring with the first goal.
The Chargers scored just one goal in the first half with Olague scoring in the 35th minute. Fifteen minutes into the second half, sophomore midfielder Jackiee Roman scored the second Charger goal. Cypress waited till just before the end of the game for freshman forward Juliane Adams to score the third goal with an assist from freshman midfielder Nicole Weil. Freshman keeper Withney Joslin played the whole game for the shutout without having to make one save.
Cypress improves to 12-1-4 and 8-1-2 in conference. They have a couple days off before hosting Fullerton for a revenge match. The Hornets stung Cypress earlier this season for the Chargers’ only loss this year. Cypress will look to avenge their loss Friday at home at 3:00 pm.
