Chargers Sting Back Avenging only Loss

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress has suffered just one loss this year and it was to district rivals Fullerton. Cypress avenged that loss with a resounding 3-0 shutout win. Sophomore forward Catrina Flores kicked off the action with the first goal of the day.

The Chargers had plenty of opportunities but could not break through until the 35th minute as Flores headed in a ball from freshman midfielder Amanda LoBello to give Cypress the 1-0 lead. Ten minutes after halftime, freshman forward Juliane Adams scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jackiee Roman. Freshman midfielder Casey Kiehl finished it off with the highlight play of the game dribbling through several defenders up the middle for a solo goal. Freshman keeper Whitney Joslin notched the shutout with two saves.

Cypress improves to 13-1-4 and 9-1-2 in conference. They take the weekend off before heading on the road to take on Riverside. Cypress ended their last match in a tie with Riverside, 0-0. The Chargers and Tigers are also tied for second in conference. The two meet up again Tuesday at Riverside at 3:00 pm.
