The Chargers, Charge Their Way to An Impressive Victory

Cupertino, Calif. - Cypress finally found their spark controlling the pace of play visiting the 2008 Coast Conference Champions, De Anza. The Chargers’ decisive 4-0 win became their second shutout in a row this season. In 2006, the Chargers played De Anza in the state semi finals convincingly wining 5-0. The second half of play belonged to the Chargers, where sophomore midfielder Casey Kiel made her second goal this year.
Sophomore midfielder Amanda LoBello ignited the Chargers, scoring their first goal in the 45th minute with help from freshman midfielder Lindsey Ault. Kiehl followed with a goal nineteen minutes later with an assist from sophomore midfielder Sasha Key. Continuing to hold De Anza scoreless, freshman forward Nayeli Meza scored in the 70th minute from Kiel’s assist. The Chargers didn’t let up with freshman forward Vanesa Corona scoring unassisted in the 72nd minute. Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Broghamer made two saves, while sophomore goalkeeper Star Gonzales had zero shots on goal.
Cypress (3-0) travels to face Foothill Friday. The two match up at 3:30 p.m. on Foothill’s home turf.
