Cypress Overloads the Rustlers with Nine Goals

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Chargers won their first conference road game Friday in a night match against Golden West. Golden West has yet to win a game this season and the Chargers made sure they continued their losing streak in a 9-0 win, Cypress’s third straight shutout. Freshman forward Vanessa Corona unleashed the Chargers scoring trend with a goal in the 17th minute. Corona finished the game with two goals and an assist.
The Chargers goals flowed steadily throughout the ninety minutes. Cypress’s longest scoring drought was twenty minutes. Sophomore midfielder Amanda LoBello contributed to three straight with three assists. Sophomore forward Starr Gonzales followed up her first collegiate goal from Tuesday with two to close out the game against the Rustlers while also adding an assist. Freshman midfielder Lindsey Ault contributed a goal and an assist.
The Chargers (8-0, 3-0) will skip their Tuesday game against IVC due to IVC's forfeit. They will move on to Friday's action at Riverside at 3:00 pm at Riverside.
