Cypress, Calif. – The Chargers were looking to bounce back on Tuesday from a bad slide that included a tie and two losses. Cypress did just that braving cold weather and rain for the 2-1 win. Sophomore midfielder Amber Lopez led Cypress with a goal and an assist.
Cypress wasted no time scoring early with Lopez’s goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Casey Kiehl. After a 1-0 halftime, the Chargers scored early again in the second half off a goal from freshman forward Vanessa Corona with an assist from Lopez. Fullerton was able to get a goal through late but was not able to catch Cypress. Freshman keeper Chelsea Broghamer made six saves on the day.
Cypress (10-2-1, 5-2-1) has a bye this Friday and head into the second half of conference action next Tuesday at Saddleback. The two meet up in Mission Viejo Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
