Cypress Blanks Orange Coast College

Costa Mesa, Calif. – The Chargers played the Pirates for the second time this season and finished the match with their second shutout of the Pirates. On the road this time around, Cypress defeated OCC 3-0. Freshman forward Michelle Hampton scored the first goal for Cypress.

The Chargers waited until the 21st minute as Hampton stole the ball from a Pirates defender to score unassisted. Right before half, sophomore midfielder Casey Kiehl scored off sophomore midfielder Amber Lopez’s in the 42nd minute. After halftime, the Chargers did not let up, scoring in the 62nd minute from sophomore midfielder Alana Wohlers, assisted by freshmen midfielder Jessica Murphy. Cypress outshot Orange Coast ten to two. Freshman keeper Chelsea Broghamer made two saves completing the shutout.

Cypress (12-2-1, 7-2-1) comes home to face Golden West next. The Chargers defeated the Rustlers 9-0 the first time around. The two face off again Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Cypress.
