Cypress Trounces Golden West

Alana Wohlers Wohlers had a hat trick Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers piled on 13 goals.

Cypress, Calif. – In what looked more like a football score than a soccer score, Cypress shutout Golden West 13-0 Tuesday afternoon at home. Cypress completes their season sweep of the Rustlers outscoring them 21-0 this season. Sophomore forward Alana Wohlers led Cypress with a hat trick of three goals and an assist.

Cypress got started early as Wohlers scored two straight followed by a goal from sophomore forward Casey Kiehl. Freshman midfielder Lindsey Ault got past the goalie to score unassisted in the 31st minute. Sophomore defender Nicole Weil followed with a goal and six minutes later freshman midfielder Jessica Murphy put one in ending the half 7-0.

The scoring continued for the Chargers as Kiehl, Weil, freshman forward Vanessa Corona, and sophomore midfielder Sasha key all scored within the first twelve minutes. Corona scored again in the 61st minute and Wohlers completed her hat trick in the 71st. Ault finished off the scoring in the 81st minute with Cypress’s 13th goal.

Cypress (13-2-1, 8-2-1) heads back on the road Friday to take in Irvine Valley. The Lasers forfeited before their first meeting. The two meet up for the first time Friday at IVC at 3:00 pm.
