Cypress Closes Regular Season with 2-1 Victory

Fullerton, Calif. – Cypress traveled to Fullerton Friday for their final regular season match of 2009. The Chargers matched their earlier result against the Hornets with a 2-1 victory. Freshman forward Vanesa Corona led Cypress with a goal and an assist.
The Chargers started strong with two first half goals. Corona scored first off an assist from sophomore midfielder Alana Wohlers in the 24th minute. Less than ten minutes later, Corona served a corner kick to sophomore midfielder Casey Kiehl who headed the ball in for the second goal. After the 2-0 halftime, Fullerton got on the board in the 63rd minute. Cypress held the lead while freshman keeper Chelsea Broghamer made three saves.
Cypress (16-3-2, 11-3-2) finishes conference in second place and will wait for playoff seedings and will likely host the first match. Playoffs begin next Saturday, November 21st.
