Four More Cypress Players Sign on to Next Level

Four Chargers pick in state schools to finish their college careers.

Cypress, Calif. - The Charger Women’s Soccer program added to their tally of players who move on to four year scholarships after Cypress with four more signings. Cypress now boasts eight total members of the 2005 team that will move on to play at a four year university. All four of the newly signed Chargers are headed to California schools: Cal State Northridge, Cal State San Marcos, San Francisco State, and Dominguez Hills.

Rilesha Haynie, a midfielder out of Walnut high school, is headed to Cal State Northridge to play for the Division I Matadors in the Big West conference. Haynie finished 2005 with ten assists and seven goals. Tessa Smith will join three other Chargers headed to Cal State San Marcos to play in the NAIA. Smith, a midfielder out of Centennial high school contributed three assists and two goals in 2005. Sarah Balderas, a co-MVP from the 2005 team will move on to play keeper at San Francisco State for the Division II Gators. Balderas was the Chargers’ number one goalie playing 1290 minutes with 58 saves allowing just 9 goals. Krista Rojas was the latest Charger to sign committing to Cal State Dominguez Hills to play for the Division II Toros. Rojas, a defender out of Kaiser High School scored one goal with three assists in 2005.
