Chargers Honored with Conference Awards

Cypress, Calif. – The Orange Empire Conference honored their best and brightest with their annual naming of the All-Conference Team. Cypress boasted six players total on the first and second team. Sophomore defender Cassie McKay was named to the first team all-conference for the second time. As the Chargers’ captain defender, McKay finished conference 13th in assists with 5.
Sophomores Tiffany Craig and Brittney Elder were first time honorees named to the first team. Craig finished sixth in the conference in goals with 11 and sixth in total points with 26. She ended her career ninth in the Charger career record book for goals with 35. Elder finished ninth on the conference list for points with 22 and tenth in the Charger career record book for points with 86.
Sophomores Denise Oates and Yvonne Vasquez were also honored for second team all-conference, this was Vasquez’s second appearance on the second team. Cypress had one freshman who made second team, midfielder Amanda Martinez.
The Chargers finished second in the state with a record of 24-2-2.
McKay was named to the First Team all-Conference.
