Cypress Highlights: The Cal State Fullerton bound Fernandez had another standout year as a sophomore. Fernandez led the team in doubles with 17 which was good enough for second on the Cypress single season record list. Her 25 career doubles lands her fourth on the career double list at Cypress. Fernandez hit .363 on the State Championship team with 42 RBI and 51 runs scored and a .535 slugging percentage. Fernandez's efforts earned her first team all-Orange Empire Conference honors, all-Southern team in the state, and named to the 2006 all-American team.
Was the team’s second leading hitter in 2005 batting .369 for the Chargers with a .449 on base percentage. Fernandez had 25 RBIs with 8 doubles and 35 runs scored playing in 46 of the team’s 48 games. Fernandez was awarded first team all-Orange Empire Conference honors for her efforts in Conference play. At the plate against conference opponents, Fernandez shined with a .413 average leading the team in slugging percentage with at .587. Fernandez earned a spot on the second team all-state team and was inducted into the Cypress College Hall of Fame last season.
High School Highlights: A standout four year starter for a powerful La Mirada High School program which finished as CIF Division II Finalists in 2003 and 2004. A four-year varsity starter, she helped the Matadors capture four Suburban League Championships while earning first team all-league her senior year.
Personal: Parents are Tony and Susan Fernandez. Sibling is Sarah.
