Cypress Highlights: Gutierrez had a record breaking freshman year for Cypress breaking the single season Cypress record for hits with 91 which was good enough for best in the state as well. Her 65 runs were good enough for best in the state as well and third on the Charger single season record list. She notched six homeruns which puts her third on the single season homerun record for Cypress and 16 doubles which is fifth on the list. Gutierrez hit .433 on the season with a team leading 52 RBI. Her performance at the plate was not to be outdone by her performance on the mound. As the Chargers’ number two pitcher, Gutierrez posted a 17-2 record with a 1.20 ERA holding batters to a team best .168 batting average. Gutierrez was the winning pitcher for Cypress in the State Championship game shutting out Mt. Sac for the 1-0 victory. Her accomplishments were awarded with Orange Empire Conference and Southern California Player of the Year honors. Gutierrez was also awarded with All-American honors and Most Valuable Player of the State Championship Tournament.
High School Highlights: A four-year standout, Gutierrez was awarded Female athlete of the year at La Mirada High School. Gutierrez led La Mirada to four straight Suburban League Championships earning first team all-League mention for three seasons and league MVP for two seasons. Gutierrez also led her team to two CIF Division III runner-up finishes. She was awarded first team all-CIF twice and second team all-CIF once. The Long Beach Press telegram twice recognized her on their Dream Team list and was named three times to the Whittier Daily News All-Area first team. Gutierrez’s accomplishments earned her team MVP honors twice and became the team’s captain her senior year.
Personal: Parents are Manuel and Teresa Gutierrez. Siblings are Anthony, Andrea, and Andrew. Favorite quote is, “Go big or go home”.
