Sophomore catcher Gabrielle Woody struck out but took advantage of a dropped pitch by the Gaucho catcher to reach first and load the bases. Pefley’s double was immediately followed by a stand-up double by Gonzales to right center to score Woody and Pefley. Cypress was not done as sophomore center fielder Jade Espinoza singled with two outs scoring Gonzales. After going through the entire lineup in the third, Cypress was up 6-0.
Cypress gave up their first run in the fifth but would match with their own run. Freshman right fielder Andrea Toledo reached base on a fielder’s choice. Freshman first baseman Heather Mills grounded out but moved Toledo to second. Hernandez came up next and showed some two out hitting with a single through the left side as Toledo slid home for Cypress’s eighth run.
