Chargers Finish 12th at Pasadena Invitational

Cypress finished 12th in a field of 15.

Pasadena, Calif. - Cypress and 14 other teams met over the weekend at Pasadena to face off at the Pasadena invitational. The Chargers made a strong showing scoring 62 points finishing 12th.

The weekend started with a 13th place finish in the 200 yard freestlye relay. Freshman Mallerie Lacer followed with a strong 24th place finish in the 100 yard IM. Lacer added a 15th place finish in the 50 yard freestlye with a time of 26.66 in a field of 71. Divers also competed Friday with freshman Elizabeth Webber finishing 12th in the one meter dive competition and then fifth in the 3 meter dive competition. Cypress finished the day in ninth.

The teams began Saturday morning with a 14th place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Freshman Stephanie Flesner highlighted the day for cypress finishing with a time of 35.31 in the 50 yard breastroke coming in 11th. Freshman Danielle Duran added a 13th place finish in the 50 yard backstroke beating out 33 other swimmers. Lacer continued to compete well finishing 15th in the 100 yard freestyle.

Cypress travels next to el Camino with the divers taking part in the SoCal Championships. The entire team will compete in the OEC Championships starting Thursday April 22nd at Saddleback.
