Cypress Places Fifth at the OEC Championships

Mission viejo, Calif. - The Chargers traveled to Saddleback over the weekend to take on all the Orange Empire teams in the OEC Championships. Cypress ended the three-day meet fifth with a score of 278. Freshman diver Megan Morse led Cypress finishing third in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dive competitions.
Cypress started the championships on Thursday with the 200 Free Relay which Cypress finished fourth in. The 400 Medley relay team finished fifth. Morse dove in the 1 meter competition Thursday as well and Cypress ended the day in fourth place. On Friday, the 200 Medley relay team finished fifth. Freshman Stephanie Flesner competed in the championship finals in the 50 meter breastroke and finished fourth with a time of 34.10. Freshman Mallerie Lacer competed in the championship finals of the 50 yard backstroke and finished seventh with a time of 30.87. Morse competed in the 3 meter dive competition Friday and the team ended the day in fourth place.
The Chargers ended competition on Saturday. Lacer competed in the 100 yard backstroke championship finals and finished eighth while Flesner finished sixth in the 100 yard breastroke championship finals with a time of 1:15.86. Saddleback surged ahead of the Chargers on the final day leaving Cypress in fifth.
