Chargers Notch First Program Win Since 2006

Jara swept in number one singles and doubles.

Cypress earns their first win of the season and since 2006.

Cypress, Calif. - On March 3rd, 2006, the Cypress College Women’s Tennis program defeated Santa Ana. Over three years later, the program has experienced a resurrection and have won their first match of the year and since 2006 with a 6-3 victory over Santa Ana. Freshman Yvonne Jara led Cypress winning in both number one singles and number one doubles along with partner Nicole El-Ali.

Jara won 6-1, and 6-3 in her number one singles slot and was bolstered by wins from fellow freshmen Swang Le, Quyen Dao, and Ahed Saleh. Cypress headed into doubles with a 4-2 lead and took care of the two doubles matches they competed in 8-4 in both.

Cypress improves to 1-7 and 1-6 in conference. They have a day off before traveling to Fullerton. Cypress lost to Fullerton 9-0 earlier this season. The two face off again Thursday at Fullerton at 2:00 pm.
