Chargers Showered with Post Season Awards

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress had arguably their best squad in school history in 2009 and it showed when it came to post-season awards. Head Coach Nancy Welliver was named the Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year for her first OEC championship. Freshman setter Giajaida Vargas earned All-State and was named MVP of the Conference. Sophomore outside hitter Marina Samoa made a repeat appearance as an all-conference selection and debuted on the All-Region list.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Saavedra made her way to the First Team all-conference after an appearance on the second team last season. Freshman outside hitter Kelly Chiffer and freshman defensive specialist Madison Moss were named to the Second Team all-Conference while freshman middle blocker Kayla Pace was an honorable mention.
