Cypress, Calif. - Cypress doubled their goal output from the day’s earlier game but could not stop a potent Sierra offense losing their second game of the season 21-6. Freshman goalie Nicole Cliff made 14 saves on the day protecting the Charger goal.
Cypress started with a goal in the first quarter from freshman driver Miranda Pavielle but allowed five goals from Sierra to go down early. Freshman utility player Megan Mulroney added another in the second. Cypress had a big third quarter with goals from sophomore driver Rachel Wood, Mulroney again and sophomore utility player Stephanie Saindon. Saindon topped it off with her second goal of the game and fourth in the day in the fourth quarter for Cypress’s only fourth quarter goal to lose 21-6.
The Chargers fall to 0-2 on the season and head directly into the third round of tournament play. Cypress will face Orange Empire Conference rivals Orange Coast at 9:00 am tomorrow at Cypress.
