Chargers Open Conference with Tough Loss

Cypress suffers fourth straight loss.

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Orange Empire Conference action started Wednesday with Cypress opening against a tough Golden West squad. The Rustlers proved to be tough opponents as Cypress lost 17-5. Freshman 2 meter player Nora Jean TerBorch led Cypress with three goals.

Cypress scored one goal each quarter except for the third. TerBorch scored the first goal followed by freshman 2 meter player Megan Valenzuela’s goal in the second. TerBorch scored again in the third followed by freshman attacker Kristle Winter. TerBorch scored Cypress’s final goal in the fourth quarter. Freshman goalie Brooke Sovick made ten saves on the day.

Cypress (3-5, 0-1) has a week off before heading to district rivals Fullerton. The two face off at Fullerton Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
