Fullerton, Calif. – Cypress traveled to district rivals Fullerton Thursday to take on the Hornets. The Chargers competed early but slowly slipped behind in the 10-6 loss. Freshman keeper Brooke Sovick kept the Chargers in the game making a school record 22 saves on the day.
After falling behind a goal, Cypress scored two straight by freshman 2 meter player Nora Jean Ter Borch and freshman attacker Kristle Winter. TerBorch scored again giving Cypress a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. The Chargers fell into a drought from there unable to score in the next two quarters and allowing Fullerton to get ahead 10-3 after the third quarter. Cypress made a comeback in the fourth but it was not enough as freshman 2 meter player Megan Valenzueala, scored two straight followed by a goal by freshman attacker Heather Kaneen. The comeback was not enough in the four goal loss.
Cypress (3-6, 0-2) has a week off before hosting a home conference match against Santa Ana Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
