Defensive Showdown Leaves Cypress Short Three Goals

Cypress, Calif. – Cypress hosted Saddleback Wednesday afternoon in what turned out to be a defensive battle between the two evenly matched teams. The defenses held strong throughout most of the low scoring game as Saddleback edged out Cypress 4-1. Freshman attacker Heather Kaneen was Cypress’s only goal scorer.
Kaneen scored her goal early giving Cypress the 1-0 lead, their only lead of the game. Saddleback came back to tie it up in the second quarter going into halftime 1-1. Saddleback outpaced Cypress from there scoring once in the third and twice in the fourth on the way to win. Freshman keeper Brooke Sovick made 13 saves on the day.
Cypress (5-11, 1-4) has no time off as they head north to Sierra for the River City Invitational Tournament this weekend.
