Program Information

Cypress College’s Cybersecurity Program provides students with the foundation necessary to enter into the growing cybersecurity industry. Courses within this program prepares students in taking their first steps toward industry recognized certificates. The Cypress College Cybersecurity Program also offers a two-year Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Cyber Defense.

Two-Year A.S. Degree

Cyber Defense Degree (60 units)

The Associate of Science in Cyber Defense Degree provides concepts and hands-on skills to identify cybersecurity threats and implement procedures to protect cyber assets. It will also enhance students’ chances to pursue a professional career in cybersecurity by preparing them for industry-recognized certificates such as Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), and CCNA Security (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

To earn an Associate Degree students must complete: (1) all major course requirements with a minimum grade of “C”; (2) 25 units of General Education Graduation Requirements; (3) the cultural diversity and reading requirements; (4) any elective courses to complete a minimum of 60 units; and, (5) have a minimum GPA of 2.0. At least 50 percent of all major course work must be completed at Cypress College.

Cybersecurity Certificate (12 units)

The Cybersecurity Certificate program prepares students to recognize cybersecurity threats and implement procedures to protect computers, devices, and networks from unauthorized access. This certificate is one of the core components of the Cyber Defense A.S. Degree.

Cyber Defense Certificate (24-30 units)

The Cyber Defense certificate provides concepts and hands-on skills to identify cybersecurity threats and implement procedures to protect cyber assets. It will also enhance students’ chances to pursue a professional career in cybersecurity by giving them various options to prepare for industry-recognized certificates such as Security+, CEH, CCNA, MCSE and CCNA Security.

Students must take the required Cybersecurity Certificate Core listed above and one of the following areas of emphasis:
