Meet Deborah
Deborah was hired in 1999 to be the DSS Counselor at Cypress College. Prior to coming to Cypress, she was a Counselor for the Department of Rehabilitation. Other employment includes: Sign Language Interpreter, Job Coach, Vocational Counselor for Veterans of the Gulf War and Graduate Assistant. Deborah first learned sign language in 1987 and has been using it since then, including with our Deaf students.
Deborah attended San Diego State University from 1984-1991. There she earned a BA in Psychology and an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling-Area of Emphasis: Deaf & Hard of Hearing. Deborah displays her SDSU Aztec logos proudly and is a Lifetime Member of the SDSU Alumni Association.
In her free time, Deborah enjoys swimming, reading, working puzzles of all kinds and playing with her dog. She is also an avid Lakers and Dodgers fan. Deborah is a positive, optimistic person with a good sense of humor, as you can tell by her Minion-filled office.
