DESCRIPTION:Pluralism\, Inclusion\, & Equity (P.I.E.) Series Presents “Critical Race Theory\, Democracy\, and Climate Collapse: All our Fates Are Linked.” This event is open to faculty\, staff\, students\, and the community. Faculty and staff must register through EdVantage. \nThe Pluralism\, Inclusion\, and Equity (P.I.E.) series offers workshops and trainings designed to increase our intercultural proficiency so we may provide effective teaching and support services for our diverse student body. \nPlease join for a discussion that uses the ongoing attacks against Critical Race Theory as a window onto the routine exploitation of racism in electoral politics—a strategy that not only deepens social strife\, it intentionally threatens our democracy as well as society’s ability to prevent climate collapse. We will also discuss how and why people on the broad left often respond in self-defeating ways. Ultimately\, this talk suggests that we need to recover an older\, more radical paradigm of racism if we’re to become a multi-racial democracy and save our planet. \nThis event is being held via Zoom. \nFor more information about this and other events\, please visit Upcoming Events on the District website.

SUMMARY:Microsoft Translator Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will focus on using Microsoft Translator in one-to-one conversations and in the classroom. We want to offer another tool to increase accessibility to students and families that are non-native English speakers and our DSS population. \nCreate: Instructors can create a reoccurring classroom for up to 100 hours. \nSave: Students can save transcripts of their meeting in the chosen language to assist with note taking and lecture references \nInclude: Workshops and informative presentations can include subtitles on their PowerPoints and allow attendees to read along in their chosen language using their phones at the same time \nEmployees must register through EdVantage in myGateway \nStudents may register here
