DESCRIPTION:Hello English Majors! \nPlease join us for our English Department Social event and luncheon on April 11\, from 12-2 p.m.\, in the Humanities Building conference room 217. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with English faculty and other students pursuing the English degree and Creative Writing certificate. We will have counselors available to answer your questions about English programs at local transfer institutions. Our career coach\, Amanda Garcia\, will present information about careers for English Majors at 1 p.m. And creative writing students can share their work during our open mic session\, starting at 1:30. \nThis is an informal/casual event\, so you are welcome to stop by briefly and grab a slice of pizza on your way to class. SUMMARY:Babak Lakghomi: Cypress College English Department's Visiting Writers Series
DESCRIPTION:The English Department is thrilled to announce that our next Visiting Writer will be Babak Lakghomi! Babak is the author of South (forthcoming 2023) and Floating Notes (2018) and will be sharing his unique experience of writing and publishing while also working as a full-time engineer. He will be visiting us virtually via zoom on Tuesday\, April 18 at 1 p.m.!Similar to our wonderful past Visiting Writer series events\, we will be hosting a conversation + Q&A with Babak (1 p.m.)\, followed by an optional workshop (approximately 2:15 p.m.). In this workshop\, Babak will guide participants (students and interested faculty) through activities aimed to encourage playfulness in the act of writing and giving everyone the courage to simply write.
