DESCRIPTION:We all have a story to tell\, what’s yours? \nDrawing on the concept of intersectionality pioneered by Kimberly Crenshaw and harnessing the power of poetry\, this dynamic workshop series helps students tell their own stories. As they are guided\nthrough a specific process\, students will explore the myriad layers that make up their social identities\, and create original works that celebrate the experiential wisdom each of them wields. What are some additional challenges facing our traditional students during this pandemic? Come and learn more about these challenges\, as well as some strategies and tools for helping our students during this pandemic. Dr. Harris III is an expert on racial [in]equity in postsecondary education and his work prioritizes historically underrepresented populations in education. \nMelina Abdullah\, PhD\nMonday\, 11/9/20 @ 4 p.m.\nWhat is the Black Lives Matter Movement? What do they mean when they ask to defund the police? Come and learn more about this and other topics from one of the first organizers and current Los Angeles chapter leader of Black Lives Matter. Dr. Abdullah is a renowned expert on race\, gender\, class\, and social movements. She has regular appearances and interviews on various media venues (television shows and documentaries). This is very relevant to our current times and it is open to everyone.
