SUMMARY:Veterans' Week
DESCRIPTION:The Veterans Resource Center would like for you to join us by celebrating Veterans Day with a week of events. This year we’re continuing to give back to our community by collecting hygiene supplies\, canned goods\, and a housing assistance workshop. \nThe Vietnam War claimed the lives of more than 58\,000 American service-members and wounded more than 150\,000. In addition\, the men and women who served in Vietnam and survived unspeakable horrors\, coming home offered its own kind of trauma. On November 7\, 2019\, the current student veteran leadership would like to properly “Welcome Home” Robert Salazar\, a United States Marine Corps Force Recon Vietnam veteran. \nHygiene Collection – All Week \nCollection points: Humanities\, SEM\, Student Center\, VRC\, and L/LRC.\nDonation ideas: toothpaste/brush\, women’s hygiene\, soap\, etc. \nThe items collected will be donated to the Cypress College Food Bank. \nHousing Assistance & Support Session – November 5\, 12 – 1:30 p.m. \nLearn about student/veteran housing insecurities.\nLocation: Veterans Resource Center \nCanned Food Collection & BBQ – November 6\, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. \nBring three canned goods and receive a burger\, chips\, and a drink.\nLocation: Gateway Plaza (near the Student Center & Campanile) \nThe items collected will be donated to the Cypress College Food Bank. \nVeteran’s Day Ceremony/Recognition – November 7\, 12 – 1:30 p.m. \nLocation: Flagpole next to Business Building (Lot 1)\nHonoring Robert Salazar – Vietnam Veteran\nForce Recon – United States Marine Corps
