SUMMARY:Opioid Overdose Prevention & Narcan Training
DESCRIPTION:The Student Health & Wellness Center is excited to bring free Naloxone trainings presented by the OC Health Care Agency to our campus this spring. \nTrainings will be held in CCCPLX-414 on the following dates and times: \n\nTuesday\, 1/27\, 3-4 p.m.\nWednesday\, 3/25\, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.\nMonday\, 5/4\, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.\n\nOpioid Overdose Prevention & Narcan Training\nDid you know the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the U.S. is drug overdose—surpassing motor vehicle crashes? Opioids\, including prescription painkillers and heroin\, account for most of these deaths (CDC\, 2024). Today\, the risk is even higher as powerful opioids like fentanyl are increasingly found in other substances—sometimes without people realizing it.\nNarcan (naloxone) is a life-saving medication that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose. \nJoin us for this important training where you will: \n\nLearn to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose\nPractice how to properly administer Narcan\nUnderstand the opioid crisis at both national and local levels\nGet updates on emerging trends—new drugs\, law changes\, and the evolving illicit drug supply\n\nOverdose deaths are preventable. Together\, we can save lives. \nRSVP with Marla McBride at mmcbride@cypresscollege.edu. \nAll participants will receive free Narcan and be entered into a raffle to win a First Aid Kit from the Student Health and Wellness Center. A certificate of completion from the OC Health Care Agency will be sent out after the training.
