T-TEN Grad Among Few to Pass all ASE Certifications
A member of last semester’s graduating T-TEN cohort became the only student to pass all 10 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification tests. Jesus Salgado graduated Cypress College with top honors in 2024, and went on to pass all ASE tests, including Advanced Engine Performance (L1) and Hybrid and EV Technology (L3).
“Putting in the class/study time, and earning while learning as a Toyota technician at Toyota of Orange, is not easy to accomplish,” T-TEN Program Coordinator Michael Klyde says. “Jesus showed a strong determination to earn all the various Toyota T-TEN graduate awards offered. Passing all the ASEs allows Jesus to move up to line technician, followed very soon to master level status with two more courses offered by Toyota’s Los Angeles regional training center.”
Toyota provided graduation awards to Jesus, including: Gear Wrench ratcheting wrenches ($350 value), T-TEN graduate shirt, T-TEN Jacket, a Techstream Lite scan tool cable (value $500) for L1, and a top line Automotive Fluke Meter that is high voltage ready for Hybrid and EV diagnosis (value over $1,500) for passing L3.
Most students like Jesus earn a liveable wage within their first 12 months after completing T-TEN. These tool awards not only provide recognition, they allow Jesus to earn a very good income in the years ahead. The Cypress T-TEN team expect Jesus and the other Cypress award winners with ASE L1 (there were six) to demonstrate great success and career advancement in the years ahead.
Cypress T-TEN instructors also received recognition at the T-TEN national conference, held on the Cypress campus this past August. Paul Kelley and Michael Klyde each received awards for their top students, including work sized duffle bags, a Toyota Techstream Scan Tool (value $8,000) and a Techstream Lite scan tool cable for the program. Only a handful of the 37 T-TEN programs earned these awards this year. Cypress T-TEN thanks the district, campus and CTE division for supporting our award-winning efforts.
