Professional Development

The Professional Development Program offers Cypress College employees opportunities for professional growth in community college demographics and governance, adult and basic skills pedagogy, SLO assessment, wellness, and/or technology training.

Opportunities for Equivalent Unit Credit

Some Cypress College seminars of 10 hours or more in length, such as the New Faculty Seminar, have been approved by the North Orange County Community College District Human Resources for equivalent unit credit for advancement on the United Faculty or CSEA pay scale. For specific information on the use of equivalent unit credit for advancement, see the employee contracts whose links are found in the column to the left. All contract requirements and limitations apply.

Although equivalent unit credit is not an option for adjunct faculty per the Adjunct Faculty United Contract, adjunct instructors who complete these seminars or training will receive a certificate of completion from Cypress College Professional Development to add to their resumes.

District Employee Contracts & Administrative Procedures Relating to Advancement

Note:  All employees must file a request for approval BEFORE they take courses or complete a professional development activity that they want to be used for salary advancement. The only exception are the pre-approved seminars offered by Cypress College Professional Development.

For more information or clarification on filing a request for salary placement advancement and the appropriate form, contact the District Office of Human Resources at hr@nocccd.edu or call (714) 808-4810.
