About Professor Cole
Hello! My name is Professor Megan Cole, and I’ve been teaching full-time at Cypress College since 2026. Before coming to Cypress, I taught at Chapman University, Victor Valley College, and Irvine Valley College. I was also an instructor and researcher at the University of California, Irvine, where I earned my English Ph.D. in 2024. My main teaching areas are composition, critical thinking, creative nonfiction, and literature. Currently, I’m in the process of publishing my first book, “Fossil-Fueled Fictions: Coal, Oil, and the (Un)Making of American Literary Modernity,” and drafting my second book, a work of creative nonfiction. When I’m not reading, writing, or teaching, I love surfing, baking, and spending time with my family and friends!
Languages Taught: English
Student & Department Involvement (Club/program/event): Language Arts Academic Senator
Why I Teach: It’s such a privilege to teach reading, composition, and critical thinking here at Cypress. I absolutely love connecting with my students, talking and writing about topics that matter, and supporting my students in all their endeavors within and beyond the classroom.
Fun fact: I love mini dachshunds and have two of my own (Gus and Bernie)!
