MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) is a program at Cypress College designed to provide enriching experiences and foster a deeper appreciation for students in calculus-based majors.

Cypress College is proud to be one of the many community colleges in California that provide student support in collaboration with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Our team is devoted to providing student support services to ensure student success in their academic journey.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the MESA Program, prospective students must meet the following criteria:

  • Declare a calculus-based major in math, science, or engineering
  • Good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Enrolled at Cypress College
  • Intend to transfer to a 4-year institution
  • Be eligible for financial aid
  • First-generation college student (parents did not graduate college)

  • Biology
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Pre-Engineering
  • Geology
  • Chemistry
  • Environmental Science
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

  • Specialized MESA excursions, university campus visits, and lab tours
  • Designated MESA tutoring & academic workshops

Program Requirements:

  • MESA Orientation + Meet & Greet
  • One Counseling Appointment with the MESA Counselor
  • 20 Hours of Tutoring per Semester
